Electronics Engineer from Reading with some Mech.Eng. training. For work I do a lot of 3D design for high voltage equipment and use 3D printing to make insulators and spacers but I don't those here as they're highly specific to certain bits of equipment. I mostly use Cults to designs for things that I've made around the house or for artistic pieces. I tend to like strong geometric forms and clear lines so I do most of my design in OpenSCAD because the programmatic nature works well with the things I like to make.
Strong preference for keeping the entire toolpath open-source but will use commercial software where it's really needed. I use OpenSCAD and FreeCAD for design, OrcaSlicer and Cura for slicing and I have Makerbot, TronyXY, and Lulzbot printers, and Troodon that I'm not very happy with. I did make an early reprap Mendel in 2011 that I modified very extensively but it's not in use any more.
