I was able to adapt your model to work with the KS 120 EB. Here's a picture of it: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Tr75zVaqkPcgo2qA9
Otherwise, everything is the same.
Do you mind if I post my remake on Printables?
Thanks, Ryan

Hey Ryan, I'm glad you got it to work! Are you planning to charge for the file? Will you include a link to my original design? Can you post it as a remake on my cults page? This is the first and only file I have ever posted on any page. I'm just trying to make sure that you don't post as your own design. I don't mind you taking full credit for the modification. Am I overthinking this?
No, I don't think you're over-thinking it at all, especially if it's your first model shared. To be honest, I don't spend much time on this site, as I really prefer Printables or Thangs (which is basically like a meta-search of many 3D model sites). I'm not seeing an easy way to post a "remake" here, though I know it's pretty easy to do on Printables.
I have no plans to charge for it. I only have one printer, an X1C, and it only prints my hobby projects. So, no print farm here.
I can certainly attribute the original design to you and point to your model page for those wanting the KS 120 REB insert. But I think the best approach would be for you to your original design to Printables, and then I can use their "remake" feature to associate my design with yours. At least, that would connect everything together cleanly. But that's more work on your end.
I actually haven't made any cuts with the Kapex since adding your insert, so I do want to spend a bit more time with it, and at least make some straight and angled cuts, so see how it holds up. How has it been working for you?
Ryan, thanks for your reply. I followed your advice and put the file on Printables. I'm sure you'll have no issues finding it. Feel free to post your remake there. I have only used mine for straight cuts and its awesome. Been using it for a few weeks and it hasn't needed to be replaced. I figure I will use different ones for different angles due to the blade widening the gap once the saw is angled. Give it a try and let me know what you think. Thanks again.
Hey Ryan, haven't heard back from you after my last message and I was just wondering if you saw it? I did put it on Printables so you can post your modification on there. Let me know
Yes, I was just waiting to use it a bit. I did that a couple days ago, making some straight and 45 degree cuts. Worked great. I did notice the kerf expanded a bit when making the angled cuts, but this is likely a saw issue, not the backer. I might print some extras just so I can reserve one for 90 degree cuts only. https://photos.app.goo.gl/HhCmJGyPzaW63zP96
Oh, and I just noticed you posted the STEP file - thanks. I earlier had to covert your STL to STEP which is always a hairy process. I'm going to remodel it much more cleanly based on your STEP, do one more test print to make sure everything fits well, and if so, will post it to Printables and also promote on the Festool Owners Group forum.
I'm a fan of your Kapex block, but had an issue and it appears this is not compatible with the North America fences (KS 120 EB model). However, I think I could modify it quite easily to widen the ears such that the fences could be brought inward to clamp the block in place. Would you be willing to share the STEP file by any chance? Thanks! (I commented on the file itself with images.)

Thanks!
Wondering if this would be sellable on Etsy or something like that? Never done it before...
Ryan
I sell a couple of my products on etsy. My concern with this one is safety. I would hate to be held responsible for someone using it improperly and hurts themselves. I think it would be pretty popular.
After I wrote that last statement, I went to etsy to see what other products there were on there for the kapex. I'm now thinking of listing this on there. There is a very similar design that requires you to attach with screws sells for 12 bucks. What do you think?
I actually do consulting work for a woodworking accessories maker (in the Festool realm), so I'm well aware of the legal risks of getting closer to the blade. I would agree there is a risk there, and for $12, IMO, the upside is not worth the risk.
One more note that came up when I posted the model on the Festool Owners Group forum here:
https://festoolownersgroup.com/threads/kapex-ks-120-eb-zero-clearance-insert-block-3d-printable.75807/
... Is that the current block does not +/-45 degree bevel cuts. Doing so would result in cutting into your aluminum fence. Though, the design of the fence face of the block could be widened to allow for this. And that would eliminate the annoying customer that blames you when they accidently cut into their fence.
I was thinking that if I listed it, I would have to have a good disclaimer to cover my butt. I think I would also have to say that its not compatible with bevel cuts over 15 degrees. I have to completely remove my fence to get a bevel cut at 45 so widening the face would still not allow it. Still on the fence about listing it. I have been using mine quite a bit and it does exactly what I designed it to do. I like your post on the Festool group. Thank you for your imput.
