design: 529092 3D file format is zip. I can't buy till I'm sure I can use the file.

What file format has been zipped? Thanks DarianK

Hi,

I'm trying to identify the design with ID: 529092.
The website doesn't provide a way to search using that number. It would have been easier if you had mentioned the name of the model or provided a direct link.

I usually specify the formats of the models in the description, in the first presentation image on the right side, and sometimes in the title as well.
My models are either in 3D format (STL), in vector format (SVG, DXF, EPS, AI, PDF), or a combination of both.
If you click on the ZIP file, cutls3d.com will let you preview the contents inside that folder, so you can see the name of each file and its extension — .stl, .svg, and so on.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,
Cris

this is about STL file Decorative Plaque 4... no mounting hole on the back to hang it with????? pretty much useless without one... duh

Hi,

I can make a version of the model with a keyhole for you.
However, this model is actually meant to be 3D carved from wood on a CNC router, so in that case, you wouldn’t necessarily need a hole in the back.

I'm happy to modify the model if needed! You'll receive a notification once the new version is ed.
Hope this helps.
Best regards, Cris

"pretty much useless without one... duh"

Hi! I purchased the design and printed it in PLA. It should be a bit improved because the feather on his head is really thin an brittle because of this. A small connection at the back of the feather with the helmet to make it more strong it would be better.
Looking forward for an improvement.

I forgot to mention, my comment was about Vlad, the Impaler, nut it might be a similar situation also for Mihai Viteazul :).

hola el stl esta incompleto

Hi,

The STL file is complete. Please open it with 3D Viewer or other software that allows you to view STL files and check it from all sides. Importing the STL into VCarve or Aspire without first setting the job type to double-sided can make the model appear as if only half of it is present (top or bottom). The same thing can happen if you import the model into CAD/CAM software that doesn’t two-sided machining.
I recommend searching for a tutorial on two-sided machining for your specific software.

Best regards,
Cris

Hello
How can I buy just one or two models from the collection?
Fred

Hi Fred,

Thank you for reaching out!

The models are available individually on the website. Simply visit our shop, click on "Chris3DShop" on the right side, and you will find all the models I have ed.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Best regards,
Cris

have you got this in a step file? as you can not print it as to many holes in it

Hi,
A model like this one, which contains complex, organic shapes, can't be in STEP format. Also, I always check my models to ensure they are suitable for 3D printing. I think the issue lies with the software you are using to slice the model and generate the G-Code for your 3D printer.

Hi there
I was wondering if you take commissions. I really love your work and would love to hire you to create some objects for me.
I am making a prototype for a kids learning toy. I need some parts 3d modeled so that I can print them with my 3d printer to figure out size, scale, and other things.

The parts need to be stl & obj files. These parts will be eventually molded and cast out of injection mold plastic.

There are 2 clam shell (sea shell) designs that need to have a clean texture on both sides. Ideally this is going to be the container the learning toy will come in.

Version 1 is based off of a 1984 My little pony 'sea pony' shell stand.
Version 2 is based off of a Bath and Bodyworks 'shell candle holder'.
I would be happy to send you images :)

Hi,
I’m sorry, at least for the moment, I'm fully engaged with other projects and don't have the necessary time to take on custom work.
If you're in a hurry to get your project started, I recommend searching for other modelers who may be available for custom work.
Best regards,
Cris

Hi, I just purchased this and trying to import straight into Inventables Easel but I get an error. Is it compatible with this software I do I need to do something before importing?

Hi,

I'm afraid that do to the limitations of Easel you might not be able to set this model directly in that software. Easel doesn't have a dedicated V-Carving toolpath which is necessary for this model.
Based on information from their forums, Easel s often resort to alternative software like the free version of Carbide Create for more intricate toolpathing.
Here's a video ing Carbide Create with Easel: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVPnxKKasAc
And this video about V-Carving: www.youtube.com/watch?v=boOKUn6ciV4

I hope this helps.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
No. That is my own shop on that website.

hi can you modify the file for 3d printing please

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out. Files in STL format are compatible with 3D printing, while vector formats are not suitable.
You can find the format of each model in the description.

Hope this helps.
Best regards, Cris.

Hi bud im just wanting to know if this statement applies to all your models "You are free to sell the final product created with a CNC router or a 3D printer, that you created using these files and in which you have invested your time and energy" Im wanting to use one of your mirrors for a base for a stage prop for a customer but that statement is on the other mirror to the one i want to adapt and print for them, and don't want to assume. To be clear im just talking about the physical product not any of the digital files.

Hi,
The copyright applies to the designs in digital format.
You are free to sell the physical products that you create using these files, whether they are made from wood or other materials.

I hope this helps.

Cris

thanks bud that's a great help

Hi Chris I was wondered if you do a collection of jewelry boxes like you do with the trays at a "discount price
Richard

Hi Chris, I would be interested in a specific model, that of Carol I, king of Romania as a bust similar to Vlad the Impaler's.

Hi Chris
Think the boxes are fantastic
I am very new to cnc machines and don’t know much about ing fils for my Genmitsu 4030proverxl defo want to down load on of your box files to try and then hopefully more as I get better when I have a file is it for the lid and the bottom sorry to ask but are the instructions easy to follow with regards to placing wood for both top and bottom if that makes sense or it the a site I can see one being mate so I can fully understand it
Told you I was a beginners
Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave,

Thank you for your interest in my models.
The instructions contain diagrams with the dimensions of the models, information about the required toolpaths, which tools to use, cut depths where necessary, and the order of operations.

When it comes to two-sided machining, this process entails flipping the material after carving the first side, carefully realigning it on the machine bed, and then proceeding with the toolpaths set for the bottom side. You can use techniques such as the pin/dowel method or even create a jig to assist with realignment.

Here are some helpful videos on two-sided machining:

I hope this information proves helpful.

Hi,

You are free to sell the physical products created with a CNC router or 3D printer, using wood or other materials. Although the copyright remains the property of the creator and is not transferred upon sale, it is unlawful to share, distribute, or resell the digital files from my shop in digital format.

I appreciate your message and thank you for respecting my work.

Greetings,
Cris

Thanks for the quick answer and for the permission!

It was mentioned that it could be resized but when opening the file it shows it at 25", not 2". Also, do you include tool paths?

Hi,
By default the models are scaled in millimeters. If you use inches you will have to set the size of the model to the provided dimensions in inches or to your desired dimensions.
Software like Vcarve and Aspire have a “Scale MM to Inches” button that can be used to automatically do this.
For the vectors usually the SVG and EPS formats will load to the correct size in inches when the project is set in inches. The DXF format needs to be scaled.

I hope you found the included instructions file that contains information about what toolpaths to set and what tools to use.

No, these do not include toolpaths already set. For a file to include toolpaths, it has to be in the specific format of your CAD/CAM software and will work only in that specific software(crv for Vcarve, crv3d for Aspire, art for Artcam and so on).
These are in STL format + auxiliary vectors that can help you carve the inside of the box and lid using pocket and profile toolpaths. These are compatible with many cad/cam software but have to be imported in that software and the toolpaths needs to be set.

Hope this helps.
Best Regards, Cris.

J'adore mais trop cher

Hi There , i ed one of your jewelry boxes and it was 100% Perfect no problems clear instructions etc . i wondered if you do a collection of jewelry boxes at a "discount price " cheers Peter

H
So I have tried this several times, I keep getting the inner strings too deep and the outer strings seem too shallow.
Using a vbit 60*. I even lowered the spindle rate to 8000 for the inner strings. Also how do I prevent the outer cutout profile from skipping. The sides end up not being symmetrical. Using 1/4 end mill flat for inside pocket and outside cutout.

Thanks... all welcomed as I am a new of the Fox Alien CNC

Hi,
I think the problem might be with the CAD/CAM software that you are currently using or with the way you set the toolpaths.
You haven specified what that software is. That is more important than the CNC machine as long as the CNC isn’t a toy. I looked online for the CNC machine that you mentioned, trying to find what software they provide as CAD/CAM with their machines. The only thing I found was that the controller is based on grbl.
I use Vcarve Pro to set the toolpaths, but these models will work in any software as long as that software allows you to import one of the specified vector formats.

You can the free version of Carbide Create and use it to set the toolpaths needed to carve the two models you purchased. Carbide has a simple interface and it is very easy to use. The only thing missing from the free version is for STL files and 3d carvings (not needed for the two models you purchased from my shop).
Also keep the order of the toolpaths as in the instructions. The v-carving/engraving inside of the tray should be set after the pocket that carves the inside.
The starting depth of the v-carving toolpath should be the same as the cut depth that was set for the previous Pocket Toolpath that carved the inside of the tray. When setting the toolpaths, set them to be cut in multiple es, not only one.

“I keep getting the inner strings too deep and the outer strings seem too shallow.” - if I correctly understand this, it might be that the Starting Depth for the inner V-Carving/Engraving Toolpath is too high (higher than the previous Pocket Toolpath). And for the outside, either the material that you use doesn’t have a perfect sourface (you might need to set a shallow pocket toolpath to create a flat surface for your material before starting to carve the models ) or the toolpath doesn't start form the sourface of the material. For the Guitar Tray there can’t be any differences in the final results of the two V-Carved patterns, the inside one and the one on top… the space inside the vectors in the two patterns are the same - that will allow the bit to carve the same depth, if the starting depth is set correctly.
“I even lowered the spindle rate to 8000 for the inner strings.” - if this is the feed rate, then it might be way too high. It depends on the units that your software displays that value, check with the tool manufacturer to see what settings (feed rate, rotation speed you should use with those tools).
“how do I prevent the outer cutout profile from skipping.” - set the profiles and the pockets to be cut in multiple es. If you want to cut a profile of 30mm -1.2 inches, that doesn’t mean that your tool should cut it in 1 but in 5 es.

If you are very new to this, try to find some tutorials on youtube about the software that you are using.
Hope this helps.

Best Regards, Cris.

Hi
I am new to this and I have just purchased the Leaf shaped tray file. How do i access the sTL file to open it in Vetric/Desktop for my 3d router?. I can see a 3d image but where would the STL file be.

I sent you a message on your profile.

Hi Chris. I did the "octopus in a shell" in wood using a CNC. used a 1/8" bit. Turned out pretty well, but which bit do you find best to use? Thanks.

Hi,
For Roughing - a 5/16" diameter end mill with 40% stepover and 0.2" depth.
For 3D Finishing - 1/8" tip diameter (1/16" radius) tapered ball nose bit, if you want to get cleaner results or 1/4" ball nose bit, if you want to carve it faster - 10% stepover.
To carve the bottom a 1/4" diameter ball nose is good enough.
Try to set both 3D Finishing toolpaths for 1/4" and 1/8" bits in your CAD/CAM software, watch the simulation and always use the larger bit as long as you are happy with the results.

Hope this helps.
Best Regards, Cris.

thank you for your .

I just bought a Shark Next Wave d520 cnc router. I have not set it up yet. I like your files, the Shark comes with Vcarve software. Should I buy better software than what comes with the Shark?

Hi,
Vcarve is OK. It is one of the best CAD/CAM softwares for CNC.
Aspire is a little better because it has some extra features, but you might not need them.
And I think you can pay for an go from Vcarve to Aspire if you need the extra features.
You can find the differences between them in the table that can be found on this webpage: https://www.vectric.com/products

Hope this helps.
Best Regards, Cris.

Good morning. I have used several of your designs in the past and been very pleased. Last week I purchased a fairly simple bowl design, order no. 45536102. The Toolpaths are going fine except that the curves at the base of the bowl are not showing up. I know there are two design files in the purchase, one with and one without the curves. Is it possible that both designs sent are the same? I am using Aspire and the 3D Toolpaths. I am scaling the model down about 20%. Could that be the problem?

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Hi,
The files ed are the correct files, as you can see in the auto-generated preview (the last two pictures with the bowls that you can rotate around and see from multiple angles - purple colored). Those are generated by the website and are based on the ed files.

In Aspire when you import the STL file, you need to click "Center Model'', check the "Create Both Sides" box and also the most important thing ... set the Overcut Distance - this allows the bit to carve beyond the Z-Zero plane which for double sided projects is in the middle of the model. If you don't set this, the bit will only carve as deep as the Z-Zero plane allows it - I think this is why you get a flat surface inside of the bowl.
I usually set the overcut distance to half of the thickness of the model - this represents how deep you allow the bit to carve beyond the Z plane.

Hope this helps.
Best Regards, Cris.
