Introducing the Grow Totem moss pole set! -- "astron" model
A plant accessory designed to bring out your indoor climbing plant’s full potential.
The "astron" Grow Totem features a woven star-like pattern that allows your plant's roots to intertwine with and grow. The totem parts are modular and stackable, encouraging taller and larger plant growth.

❓ How do moss poles aid in the growth of your climbing plant?
Most climbing plants evolved in dense and tall tropical rainforests where climbing on trees and other structures is advantageous in order to increase their exposure to sunlight. While most can grow without indoors, a plank or moss pole allows them to mimic their natural tendency to climb and therefore encourages denser foliage & larger leaves.
❓ What are the advantages of a moss pole over other ?
Moss poles (typically containing sphagnum moss) serve a dual purpose. They provide for the climbing plant while also allowing roots within the pole to absorb water and nutrients. Think of a moss pole as an extension to your plant’s pot and of sphagnum moss as the soil. As your plant grows, roots will prefer to grow within the moss pole rather than the pot itself (meaning you won’t need to repot as often).
❓ What makes the Grow Totem special?
The Grow Totem is designed to solve many common challenges and shortcomings of store-bought & home-made moss poles. It:
💡 Is modular and stackable, allowing you to add totems at the pace of your plant’s growth. No more tall moss poles while your plant is small, & no more having to manually extend the pole once your plant outgrows it.
💡 Features a bayonet-style lock mechanism, securing the parts together with a short clockwise twist. This allows for faster and less disruptive removal or replacement of parts than the more common threaded mechanisms (while also producing a satisfying ‘snap into place’ sound).
💡 Includes a dripping cap, helping streamline the watering process. Fill the cap to the top and you’ll be watering around one totem’s worth of moss over a period of 15 min (dripping slows down over time).
💡 Features a bespoke pattern design, offering a more playful and aesthetic way for your favourite plan to take advantage of a moss pole.
💡 Is easy to print and assemble, requiring little post-processing.
Growing tips:
🌱 Growing a younger plant on a moss pole is preferable, but you can always take a cutting from a larger monstera or other plant and have it go on its own moss pole journey.
🌱 Stabilise the plant on the pole and make sure that a node (where aerial roots appear) is touching or very near moss.
🌱 Cover the lower part of the first totem with soil. Doing so will help with stability and root growth.
🌱 Most aroids and other climbing plants love moisture, but love consistent environmental conditions even more. While higher humidity will definitely boost your plant’s potential, make sure that conditions are fairly stable.
🌱 When adding damp moss in each totem, pack it well but not too densely. Moss packed too loosely will dry faster and may not attract roots as successfully. Moss packed very densely on the other hand may hold on to moisture for too long and not leave enough air pockets for the roots, increasing the risk of root rot.
🌱 Add fertiliser to the water according to plant needs. Moss doesn’t have nutrients like soil does, so it is important to add them while watering when necessary.
