Further to my comments before, I decided to get myself set up to print in Nylon. After I did this I reprinted all the gears, diffs etc in nylon. This works much better but sadly it puts too much strain on the main gear attached to the front & rear axles. The torque proves to be too much and just shears the shaft straight off. I have just recently found the link to your modification for metal gears, which I purchased & ordered the parts from AliX. Happy to share details when done.

Hola, al construir el Cramer estoy teniendo un problema con las ruedas. Las que se mencionan en la página del tutorial no están disponibles así que compré estas que están raspando en la estructura. ¿Es un problema fácil de solucionar?

Hola, si as comprado otras ruedas no puedo asegurarte que encajen bien. Es imposible hacer el diseño compatible con todas las ruedas que existen. Intenta cambiarlas y buscar las mismas que yo uso. También puedes imprimir unas.

Un diseño muy trabajado, instrucciones claras, bien pensado, pero no he sido capaz de conducirlo durante más de dos minutos seguidos, literalmente dos minutos ha sido el record sin que se parta ninguna pieza, cuando lo he impreso todo en PA- CF todas las partes que deben resistir tracción, y no ha habido manera después de muchos intentos, acaba saliendo un proyecto muy caro que no lo he podido disfrutar ni una tarde, aunque se ve que el diseño es impecable, que lleva muchísimo trabajo, y evolución del proyecto hasta llegar a donde está ahora, y se ve que es un diseño con muchas horas de quebrarse la cabeza pero se deben pulir cosas. Ahora que ha añadido el mod de usar material de AliExpress de metal, no creo que debiera ser de pago, por qué es parte indispensable poner ese mod para poder disfrutar del coche, sin el mod es un pisapapeles muy bien pensando pero un pisapapeles

Lamento que tengas problemas con la versión impresa. Este es un proyecto que nació para ser completamente impreso en 3D, la modificación para usar componentes comerciales es algo que he hecho a petición de la comunidad. He dedicado tiempo, dinero y esfuerzo para probar componentes y adaptarlo todo. Creo que pagar 5 euros por todo eso es un precio más que razonable. Mi trabajo es lo más barato de todo el proyecto.

Finished building this & will post pics soon, but having trouble with the main gears (big & small) Had it all tested & working but the PETG seems to just strip the gear in no time & then the small gear on the motor just free spins. Unfortunately I'm not set up for |Nylon printing yet, but may give it a go later. On the subject of the diffs, which I understand has been an issue, have you ever thought of using a premade metal system? Otherwise enjoyed building this & hnope |i can sort the main gear issue soon.

Really impressed with this project. Great work and thank you.

A couple of minor things. The diffs are an issue when it comes to wear. 1hr in and when I had a look there's a lot of wear on most gears, especially the diffs. I reprinted in Nylon (ran for 30mins) and there was no more wear on the 4no internals but the outer gear teeth on the Differential_Body_V3 was still evident but better. I also had the Differential_Gear_Transmission_Axis_V2 completely fail as it sheared the square hole to round. Yet again I think the tolerances here are too great, especially in one of the dimensions that has a 1.1mm gap. I'm reprinting these two assemblies now in PCCF. Slight mods to the Differential_transmission parts below to reduce tolerances, shear and improve glue bonding)

Although the carbon fibre in this filament can cause wear, I've found for gears that wear early, PCCF lasts a lot longer. Also, the microfractures that PC is prone to, are significantly reduced by the carbon fiber.

I think a lot of the wear could be mitigated by tightening up tolerances. The OD of the bearings are 18mm but the tolerance is 18.3. I believe that .3 is too much here and leads to a lot of vibration which doesn't help.

I've spent the last few years prototyping autonomous robots and 0.075mm with a scarf seam is my go-to and hasn't let me down (once you have dialled in shrinkage rates and extrusion ratios for each filament). Bearings may need slight persuasion to go in but I'd prefer this to the alternative.

You're a legend!
I placed a thin strip of birthday card 3/4 ways around each bearing OD and put 4layers of sticky tape to fill in the inner gaps (glue might melt but I'm hoping the compression holds it. Went out today with the kids and they had a ball. It's running super smooth, played for an hour and the gears are like new. There's also a noticeable reduction in noise.

Even if I adjust the tolerances, the model will not change. It should work perfectly as is. Just do some testing to make sure everything fits together properly. I don't think I'll be posting any updates anytime soon.

Excellent work Dukedoks. Great project. A enjoyed it a lot - assembly and now driving. Car works perfectly. Its quite robust so it will withstand a lot (believe me, my daughter hit the wall at high speed several times)
I am using 3300kV motor together with 2s 2200mAh 7.4V 50C battery and also 3S battery 11.1V. With both combination it has enough power and is really quick. Estimated battery duration is 15minutes.
Plus maybe an inspiration for somebody: I printed most loaded parts with TPU 83D from innovatefil (gears, bones and wheels) and must say so far it has withstand without problem (almost ten batteries = roughly 2hours of driving). I didnt have to change a thing.
However there are some weak points:
- firstly body cover doesnt fit to MK3S+, so I had to split it i two parts and connected with screws
- wheels: I very reccomend to print them with PETG at least (PLA will not endure high torque forces - see picture). I also modified wheel geometry to make it more thick in the middle and printed it with TPU-83D (now unbreakable)
- I also printed lights and all front parts with TPU 64D (PETG broke after crash)

But overall it is a very good model. Every parts fits together correctly and precisly. I definitely reccomend it!!!! Thanks for this excellent job and just keep going!!

I have looked over the build guide at your site and have a question about the nut holders. There are 4 with one side open and 4 with spaces for nuts and closed, but the only ones I see used in the build guide are the ones with the open side. Are the 4 with spaces for nuts an alternate version or are they used somewhere else?

The parts I'm talking about are the ones in the Print_14-Nuts_Holders.stl file. The ones with the open side are shown in Step 15 of the build guide. The ones with the space for nuts isn't shown in the build guide, which led to my confusion.

I understand you now! Sorry. Yes, the ones with the open side go on the 4 upper arms. They are like that so that it is quick to disassemble the upper parts for maintenance. The ones without the open side go on the lower arms. It is simply to hold the nuts. The lower arms never need to be disassembled.

Hola DukeDoks. Tengo un problema. Usando un motor brushless de 3100kv, cada vez que uso el coche me dura 2 minutos. Los engranajes que transmiten la rotacion al diferencial, todo el rato se parten. No se como explicarlo. Las dos partes que estan partidas por la mitad todo el rato se parten y quedan inservibles. Hay alguna cosa que se pueda hacer? Tambien, como se dice lo malo, hay que decir lo bueno. Es un pedazo de proyecto, me he divertido mucho haciendolo. Ahora voy a por el Delorean, espero que salga bien. Animo y sigue asi!

Hola, si es el punto débil del proyecto. Con motores muy potentes suelen romper, pero debería de durarte al menos unos cuantos usos. ¿Estás usando la última versión de los engranajes? Si tienes la posibilidad, puedes utilizar algún material más resistente para esas piezas. Como PC o similares. Estoy trabajando en mejorar el proyecto, haré una versión de la caja de engranajes usando correa. La publicaré en cuanto pueda.

Hola De Nuevo! Ya he conseguido arreglar el problema. Mire la guia de montaje, y se ve que esos engranajes los tenia con unos ajustes que no eran los correctos, una vez impresos los engranajes con la configuracion correcta, ya me han durado mas de 2 horas de conduccion y siguen intactos.
De nuevo, muchas gracias por este proyectazo, espero con ansias el proximo!

hola duke, podrias subir una version del chasis donde sea todo una misma pieza, tengo una impresora de 420x420 y me gustaria hacer todo en una misma pieza, deberias modificar tambien el encastre de internal chasis para que encaje desde arriba

Hola, pues es que está pensando así para que el internal chasis le de rigidez al cuerpo. Si lo diseño en una pieza esa pieza no entraría bien o no quedaría encajada.

If you use a brushed motor that has a higher speed, it will have less torque and may struggle to move the weight of the car. If you want power, you can use brushless motors. You can even use 3S batteries. But such powerful motors can break the gears. I am working on improving the design.

Hola tengo problemas con el paso 4 en el apartado que dice: “Differential_Gear_1” con dos tuercas y un tornillo M3 de 20mm. “ no veo donde poner las dos tuercas y en las fotos no lo veo claro! Sería posible ver alguna foto extra?

Las dos tuercas van en el extremo del tornillo, las dos juntas. La segunda es una contratuerca para evitar que es aflojen con el uso del coche.

You can find all the details in the design description and on my website. For this project you need a 220x220 bed, so there will be some parts that you won't be able to print on a A1 mini. The biggest parts are the base of the chassis. Maybe you can ask a friend to print those parts for you.

hola muy buenas!! hay algún proyecto para modificar la caja de engranajes para usar alguno comerciales¿? como los de los traxas o así¿? veo varias posibilidades en el mercado, y la verdad no sé si es por mala colocación mía, por vibración o por sobrecalentamiento (me suena q es esto) pero me como el engranaje pequeño con patatas en menos de 10 min (con un motor F540 3300kv), lo demas aguanta hasta ahora, pero esos engranajes, los he impreso hasta con petg con fibra de carbono y no me duran nada ...

Tengo ya unos diseños preparados para hacer la conversión, pero todavía lo estoy testeando. Lo publicaré pronto. Los brushless meten mucha caña a los engranajes si. También estoy haciendo una versión con correa, pronto haré video sobre ello.

Me rindo ... no consigo hacerlo funcionar, todo montado, he impreso ya no se cuantas veces todo lo que es la mecánica ... y ahora ya no se mueve o gira sobre si mismo ... patinan los engranajes o se rompen ... he dedicado unos 6 meses a esto ...

Mucha ilusión junto a mi hija para montarlo, pero al final me doy por vencido.

Mira que creía que con la Bambulab X1C iría mejor ... pero nada ...

No sé ya cómo hacerlo “andar”, no sé qué consejos me puedes dar para imprimir exactamente toda la mecánica, diferenciales etc … porque primero ando, 1 minuto, los cambié y giraba sobre sí mismo.

No sé si puedes ayudarme dando algún consejos sobre qué piezas y cómo imprimir de la mejor forma posible con la Bambulab X1C.

La verdad es que llevamos mucha ilusión por montarlo juntos, mi hija y yo y ver cómo poder solucionarlo sería increíble porque además iríamos a por la siguiente parte que pusiste de luces etc …

Si da vueltas sobre sí mismo quizás hayas puesto un diferencial en el otro sentido y las ruedas delanteras estén girando en el sentido contrario de las de atrás.
Lo más importante es que todo gire suave, que tú mismo puedas girar el engranaje central con la mano sin esfuerzo ninguno.
Otra cosa muy importante es que las piezas no tengan holguras. Todo debe entrar justo en su sitio, no forzar para que encaje pero tampoco que quede suelto. Esto lo puedes controlar con la expansión horizontal a la hora de imprimir.
El resto de cosas como los ajustes de impresión es seguir la guía de construcción. Si quieres, puedes enviarme un vídeo o algunas fotos para ver si veo cuales son los problemas que puedas estar teniendo.

Hola Antonio, primero que nada enhorabuena por el Cramer, ya lo tengo impreso y montado. Es muy bonito, pero estoy teniendo problemas con la direccrión, compré el servo que indicas en la guía (MG995) pero no consigo que la direccion gire, sobre todo a la derecha, cuando el servo tira, para la izq (cuando empuja) va mejor pero tambien hace ruido como que no termina el recorrido.

Si lo desconecto de las piezas impresas, este se mueve normal, pero al ponero en el coche, intenta moverse pero no puede. Las piezas no estan para nada apretadas, las puedo mover con la mano sin hacer demasiada fuerza. No se si son las tolerancias o que, pero estoy sin ideas de como arreglarlo.

Si las piezas no están apretadas y se mueven suavemente con la mano no deberías de tener problemas. Es posible que el servo esté defectuoso o simplemente que sea normal. ¿Cuando lo conduces notas que funcione mal? Cuando se giran las ruedas en parado, como los neumaticos se pegan al suelo, el servo es posible que no sea capaz de girarlas, pero cuando el coche está en marcha y las ruedas girando seguro que no tiene problema. Al final es un coche muy pesado. Si conduciéndolo tienes el mismo problema entonces es posible que sea problema del servo. Un saludo!!

hi! The print settings are recomendation, if you use a different TPU, you will have to do your tests. The idea is that the parts are rigid but flexible in case of impact.

The hardest TPU I found in the US is from Justmaker. They sell a 64D TPU that is very reasonably priced.

Super model - I have printed some parts with different TPUs & PLAs - using 3S batteries all the gears are fragile - I ended up printing them in metals , differentials & gearbox - need reinforcements here and there - I had also to design special rings to better fix the wheels because nylon lock nuts make turn the inside screws. Apart form that fun to build and drive !!

Hola Duke, gracias por tu curro de nuevo. Me esta sucediendo un problemita que no he leído nada al respecto y no se si soy solo yo. A la hora de apretar las ruedas me gira el tornillo por dentro y para poder darle un apriete me toca desmontar media suspensión, hay alguna manera de fijar ese tornillo por dentro? se me han aflojado las ruedas dos veces..... no se si tengo algo mas en los bujes.... Por otro lado, mientras sale tu actualización de engranajes comerciales, he leído en ingles que alguien ha impreso los engranajes de la caja de cambios en TPU...... podria funcionar? Gracias!

Hola! Pues si ves que te giran esos tornillos de las ruedas, lo mejor es pegarlo. Por la presión que hacen las ruedas impresas no deberían girar, pero bueno, al final la impresión 3D no es perfecta. Echale una gotita de pegamento y ya está. En cuanto a los engranajes en TPU, yo he probado alguna vez, es verdad que no se rompen, pero si le das mucha caña, se acaban deformando. Un sludo!

Hola! No te puedo confirmar, esos no los he probado. Yo recomiendo los que he usado yo. El 64D seguramente funcione bien. Ambos en teoría son más rígidos que el 60D que yo he usado, asi que deberían de funcionar perfecto. Pero ya digo, no te lo puedo asegurar.

Hola! Muchas gracias por tus palabras. Pues el tiempo de uso depende del tipo de motor y de la batería. Pero normalmente suele rondar entre 10 y 20 min. Igualmente es bueno dejarlo enfriar. Aunque tengas varias baterías, el motor al cabo de gastar una, acaba muy caliente. Es bueno esperar un rato para usar la siguiente.

Hi! I have lost my nerves with the small gear even printed in PETG, it last less than 3 minutes (5 gears down)!!! So i decided to print it in TPU 95A. This is absolutely better!! Just had a nice run (kind of torture test!) and the result is fine. I will print some more just in case... i have a 2350kv brushless motor on it . Except the small gear, this Cramer is rock solid and it's a real pleasure to drive it. I use a 2200Mah 30C 2s lipo batterie and i can drive for more than 20 minutes. I absolutely love it!!! THX SO MUCH DUKE!

I am having some problems with this 3D model. I previously built the DeLorean, and since I had the 2S batteries available, I chose the 2S motor for this build as well. However, I fear it doesn't have enough power. The axles all turn when the car is in the air, but it doesn't move when on the ground. I also reprinted all the bearings because I had a lot of tolerances; after adjusting the holes and contours, everything fits very tightly now but is still freely movable. I'd like to know if it's worth installing the 3S motor or if there might be another issue. Unfortunately, two of my shock absorbers are also leaking oil. A bit unlucky, but I'm confident it will be completed. As always, it's a mega build. I was also very satisfied with the DeLorean. Top job.

I recommend using 2S. It should work correctly. Have you tried turning the gear by hand? If you can turn it by hand without effort then the problem will be with the motor. You can use more powerful motors or 3S batteries, but since this project is completely printed, the more powerful the motor is, the easier it will break. I have several printed ones and the ones that have the best relationship between performance and durability are the ones that have brushed motors with a 2S battery.

Hey, I found the problem. It's so dumb that I'm embarrassed. I had one of the differentials reversed... the front wheels were turning backward and the rear wheels forward. I flipped the differential, and now it works.🤣

I reprinted some parts and now it runs very, very well. Unfortunately, the gears don't last very long. :( I'm thinking about ordering metal gears. Which version for the transmission would you recommend? I would order the V3. So, transmission large and small gear v3 in metal and all differential gears in nylon. What about the axle piece that fits into the large transmission gear... is there a one-piece version available for ordering? Or is it sufficient to use a PETG print for this?

The only ones I would order from SLM are the ones for the motor gearbox. They are the ones who suffer the most. Differentials have many parts and will be very expensive. Lately I've been testing printing on polycarbonate and it holds up better. But it is normal for them to break after a few uses. I'm working on a version to be able to use commercial gears. I will post a video about it soon.

For SLM printing, the best is the V1. It has well-designed teeth as they would be like a commercial model. The V2 and V3 are versions designed for FDM, looking for larger and more resistant teeth. Thanks!

Id like to share my latest experiences with the drivetrain transmission. After weeks of struggling to print with nylon filament, I finally succeeded in producing some good gears for the transmission. So far, they’re holding up really well. I should also mention that I previously had a 2S motor with 4370 KV installed, which practically chewed up the gears, possibly due to the high RPM. It seems that the torque was too much for them. Now, I’ve switched to a 3300 KV motor with a 2S LiPo, prioritizing torque over RPM, and the setup still has plenty of power. This combination with PA filament seems to be working well.

Hey there. Love the model. But i would love to make my own body for it. So i was wondering if it would me able to get the raw Fusion files? Iealy like the general look of the extra body you created im just not the biggest fen of the bumpers and the magnetic attachments. i would like to make it into either screw mounts or pin mounts. With magnestsd it just seems like it wants to pop of every time the body flexes.

You may have tightened the steering bolts too much. Remove the sevo and move the direction by hand. It has to go very smoothly, without effort. If you have to use force, loosen the screws on which the steering parts rotate a little
