Description du modèle 3D
Arihant-class is a class of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine designed and built indigenously by India. It holds a distinction of being the only class of SSBNs, designed and operated by a nation which is not a permanent member of UNSC. First two boats of the class, namely INS Arihant and INS Arighaat have a displacement of 6000 tons and are capable of carrying four K-4 SLBMs while the third boat, INS Aridhaman displaces 7000 tons and can carry up to eight K-4 SLBMs.
Here, 1/200 scale model of Arihant-class submarines is provided. As an easter egg, this model is open-priced. Pay any amount as you wish or and enjoy the model for free!!! Don't forget to add makes when you 3d-print this model. Following files are provided:
- INS Arihant/Arighaat model without masts: The model is same for both INS Arihant and INS Arighaat.
- INS Aridhaman model without masts: This model is provided in two variants (in two separate files), in first variant, all missile silos are grouped at the center of the "hump", while in second variant, the missile silos are grouped in two separate groups.
- The model of masts: Masts are identical for all the models.
- Guide model for placement of masts and propeller at correct positions. This model is not recommended for printing since the thin masts may not come out well and may break. One may also consider using metal wire in place of very thin pieces on masts. Just cut-out the thin part, drill a hole in its place, glue a straight piece of wire in its place, carefully keeping the length of the mast.
- Right-handed and Left-Handed propellers (in separate files). Either of them can be used with the submarine. Glue a 4mm rod into the slot provided in the propeller hub. And insert the other end (preferably after applying some lube oil) into the long slot provided in the submarine hull.
This is highly detailed model and can also be used at larger scales (e.g. 1/72 or 1/48). At larger scales the lines on the hull might be a bit too heavily pronounced. This can be countered by using a slight amount of horizontal expansion. Some amount of horizontal expansion might anyway be needed if using FDM.
NOTE: This is only a scaled down dummy model of the submarine for display purposes. No working parts are present
NOTE: Since not many drawings/blueprints of the given model are available, the accuracy of model cannot be ensured. However, I have made my best effort to ensure that the model is as accurate as possible, based on material available on the internet.

Paramètres d’impression 3D
Different printer settings may be suited for different printers. Following settings used by me are just provided for reference.
I used following settings:
Layer height = 0.15mm
Infill = 5% (Gyroid)
Horizontal expansion = 0.2-0.4 mm
Print speed = 50 mm/s
Build plate adhesion = Skirt (I manually modelled the brim of 0.30 mm height while slicing the model for printing)
NOTE: IF USING FDM, SOME AMOUNT OF HORIZONTAL EXPANSION IS NECESSARY AT ALL SCALES TO ENSURE PRINTABILITY OF SMALL EDGES/FEATURES, WHICH ARE UNAVOIDABLE FOR REALISTIC APPEARANCE AT ALL SCALES.
