Description du Make
Outstanding design! I will see how well they work to keep the humidity down in the AMS once I get two more printed. I have been using spool center holders, and this is much cleaner and much less filament. I also like that these are easy to remove and replace.
Printed well in transparent ABS. I still need to load up some TPU for the funnel and cap (printed them in PLA since it was already loaded). A couple of issues with the main body were encountered:
Could not get a 3mm bolt through the center hole nor a 3mm nut in the recess. I will need to tweak the x-y compensation in the slicer a bit to enlarge the holes.
Filling was very tough since my desiccant must be a bit too large (see picture). The description says minimum 2mm beads but there is also a maximum too. Perhaps a model version could be made to make the unit slightly larger (about 1mm) leaving the ribs the same height so that there is more space in between them. There seems to be plenty of room in the AMS for a slightly wider body.
The larger funnel is very nice. Thank you for including that design!
Have you considered a different sealing mechanism? Maybe a sliding door? Using TPU for the cap means removing it and taping the hole before drying since TPU won't hold up to the temperature.
Print time was about 2 hours for each half using Bambu Studio.
