3D model description

All single color printing! Choose your own style or colors for the holidays!

The "Color Tile Box" has slots on the sides for inserting colored tiles of your choosing. Only a few examples of possibilities are shown in the photos. Tiles may be customized with text, dates, or logos.* You could even insert photographs for a photo box!

Show off a favorite print bed texture by inserting tiles with the bottom layer facing out. Use infill as a top layer to create textures. The white boxes in the photos have tiles printed with Hilbert Curve infill at 25% for the top two layers using a filament swap after the bottom two solid layers.

Model Details

Models include a square box and a rectangular box with options for short, medium, and long tiles. The tiles have four different heights, heights when displayed on the side of the box: 10, 20, 30, and 40 mm.

The "Top" tiles are shorter with a tighter tolerance to snap in and hopefully lock in the tiles without the need for glue. However, the long top tiles (and sometimes the medium top tiles) do not fit as tight since there is more room for it to bow out. I suggest some double-sided tape or glue to fix them in place. Likewise for any "lid plate" that needs to be affixed to the top of a lid.

The STL file with the combination of short tiles (four 20 mm and eight 10 mm) is for a quick setup to print the rectangular box tiles as shown in the photos with three colors (in three print jobs in addition to the box, lid, and top tiles).

3D printing settings

The models for the square boxes are approximately 95 x 95 x 46 mm. The rectangular box has the same width and height, but is 177 mm long. The tiles are 1 mm thick.

I printed everything with 0.25 mm layer height, 3 top and bottom solid layers, 3 perimeters, and 20% infill. No raft. No s.

Rescaling the models is not recommended since that would also scale the tolerances and things may not fit properly.
