Hello everyone,
This kit is a weight bracket designed for the Axial Capra. It is compatible with the original steering cup, or the brass counterweighted steering cup can utilize an outer counterweight bracket to achieve a lower center of gravity.
Intended for installing Pinewood Derby Car tungsten cubes 1/4".
These weight blocks are commonly used for balancing pinewood derby cars and can be purchased on eBay or AliExpress.

The default dimensions are 6.6*6.6*6.6mm. Depending on the size of the tungsten steel block you have purchased, you can make fine adjustments by setting the hole compensation in your slicing software. The ideal adjustment is to ensure that the installed tungsten steel block does not slip or fall out.
The bracket is designed with an inner and outer layer structure. The outer layer relies on the hub, with an inner diameter of 45mm, which requires the use of an aluminum alloy or carbon fiber hub with an inner diameter greater than 47mm. The inner layer, facing the axle direction, has a diameter of 50mm, which is not restricted by the hub size.
They fit for 1.9" wheels with 15mm hubs, which the inner diameter of the wheels is bigger than 45mm.
Both the inner and outer brackets come in two specifications: single-layer and double-layer. The thicknesses of the single-layer and double-layer brackets are 7.6mm and 14.2mm respectively. To ensure an even lower center of gravity, all the weight blocks are positioned below the center point of the drive axle. The outer bracket can accommodate 7 or 14 tungsten steel blocks, while the inner bracket can hold 8 or 16 blocks. Each 1/4-inch tungsten steel block weighs approximately 4.7 grams and the weight of one bracket is approximately 5 grams. So the maximum weight capacity is 150g for a single layer and 300g for a double layer. Alternatively, you can choose not to install blocks in certain positions to adjust the vehicle's center of gravity according to your needs.
To install the bracket, you will need to replace the original fixing screws with M2.5*16 screws. Some technique is required when installing the screws, and there are examples provided in the compressed file.
You can also choose to combine a single-layer outer bracket with a double-layer inner bracket, or a double-layer outer bracket with a single-layer inner bracket, based on your needs, to achieve various weight configurations. The recommended weight distribution ratio for the front and rear wheels is 7:3 or even 8:2, but the final determination should be based on your test drive results. The brackets need to be installed in pairs, one on the outer side and one on the inner side. Of course, if you adjust the holes to be smaller so that the tungsten steel blocks cannot slide out, you can also install just the outer or inner bracket alone.
Thank you for considering this kit for your needs. We are confident that it will meet your expectations and provide you with excellent performance.
